Really disappointing experience today at Kierland. Usually enjoy this course as it’s close to my house and generally in good shape. Had a 9am tee time and turned a 5 1/2 hour round on a Friday! We were two groups behind two foursomes of “Chad’s” and “Bro’s” in full Bad Birdie attire who thought it would be a good idea to pair up as an eightsome. Called the proshop to inform them and send out the marshal as were stacked four groups on #10. The marshal basically informed us “they weren’t the problem as an eightsome and were keeping pace playing a scramble”. Laughable at best, nice to know an eightsome is acceptable if playing at a 5.5hr pace. These carts give feedback to the proshop on we’re groups are and the shop didn’t do a damn thing. Didn’t see the marshal once after that and we reported the slow play on the 10th hole. It was so bad, two groups behind us dropped out after 15 holes while our fourth person in our group left with a hole to play. Do better Kierland and enforce pace of play!!
We had such a great time playing 36 holes at Kierland! This place is like a well oiled machine with fine folks working there from Joel in the pro shop to the starters, rangers and cart girls. We saw some stunning sights and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you!
We took a buddy out to Kierland Golf Club for a going away gift and wow was this course in great shape. The staff was very friendly and even though it was all of our first times there it was a very easy to navigate golf club. The range balls were included in the price, there was a large practice putting area and a very large chipping area as well. The only negative thing I could say is that we only saw a cart girl one time and that was on hole 11 after we decided to stop at the turn to get drinks and food since we hadn’t seen her. Never saw her again. I would attribute this to the tournament that was going on that day but still you’d think there would be more cart staffing. There was multiple holes with water refill stations and ice machines which is awesome. The grass was so green and the tee boxes were flat. The rangers had come over to apologize for some of the pace of play issues from parties in front of us. Again the staff was awesome. I would definitely come here again.
Played 4/13/23, Acacia for front 9 and Mesquite on the back. All around good golf but would say Acacia is the superior nine as it has a more interesting layout. Pace of play was good. Course conditions were excellent. Both courses were very forgiving as the edges are all sloped down back towards the fairways. Imagine bowling with the bumpers on the lane- that’s what it feels like hitting driver off these tees, so grip it and rip it!
They have 3 nines. Played Acacia and Ironwood. Main complaints were the amount of walking required up and down sloped hills to get to your ball and the greens. Put over 8,000 steps on Fitbit. Felt like a billy goat. You are forced to exit the fairway approximately 70 yards from greens. Course was in very good shape, but don’t go if you aren’t in good shape.
Great conditions, truly beautiful. Can’t get past the concept that they don’t have a single ball-cleaner on the course. At $250/round the golf carts need built-in club + ball washers like other, more affordable courses have adopted. Hate to leave a poor review because the amenities are great, but I don’t enjoy playing with a dirty ball and clubs.
Nice shape but challenging golf course.
A lot of slopes that would be tough for high handicap golfers.
The views are great and the course is well maintained but it cannot and should not take 5 hours and 20 minutes to play a round of golf. And it was all the marshal's fault. He would not break up a group of 8. I would like to comeback so hopefully that was a one off.
